The process known as a stress echocardiogram sometimes referred to as an echocardiography stress test or stress echo, assesses the efficiency with which your heart and blood arteries are pumping. You will work out on a treadmill or stationary bike during a stress echocardiogram while your doctor keeps an eye on your heart rate and blood pressure. Your doctor will capture ultrasound images of your heart while your heart rate is at its highest to check whether your heart muscles are receiving enough blood and oxygen when you exercise. To accurately assess how your heart is operating, your doctor has to observe it while you're at rest. Ten tiny, adhesive electrodes are first applied to your chest by your doctor. An electrocardiograph (ECG) is connected to the electrodes. The ECG examines the electrical activity of your heart, particularly the frequency, and pace of your heartbeats. During the examination, your blood pressure will probably be taken as well.
